Gospel Poems
Part I, three poems
Dear Readers,
Today’s newsletter is special to me, because it comes two years after my first entry to Every Other Sunday, on November 5, 2023. In those two years I’ve published nearly four dozen original poems.
To celebrate and mark this milestone, I am going to use this post, and the next three, to share a suite of twelve poems. Some of them have already appeared in Every Other Sunday, and some of them have not. Here they will be presented together, in four parts. These are my Gospel Poems.
Speaking with Deity
See the boys breathing
dandelion wishes,
two each, saying one
out loud and one to self
(as wishes be).
Watch them fly apart,
seeds ‘coptering from view
on the softest of eddies.Call and Response
Are you coming to church?
Good news always sleeps ‘til noon.
Deliverance
is a blind horse rescue,
all contrivance
and desperate measures.
Film at eleven.
