Gospel Poems
Part IV, three poems
Welcome to Every Other Sunday. Today’s post is Gospel Poems, part four. These three poems complete the twelve poem suite.
Part I of the Gospel Poems is here, Part II is here, and Part III is here.
Sorrow (Deus Absconditus)
I looked to the elders
the teachers and preachers
I looked to the scriptures
on paper thin as tissue
I looked to my father
absent as god, god,
with god, they said
taken by plan, taken.Quidditas
Here is how
I hope it goes
for me. For you?
I see its kind
familiar face,
and know it.
I say, Oh–Afterlife
Hope’s feeble flicker.
Heart’s ceaseless bicker.
Natter, natter, natter.
I matter.
